Development of temporal and spatial characteristics of anticipatory postural adjustments during gait initiation in children aged 3–10 years

This study aimed to analyze the development of direction specificities temporal and spatial control coordination pattern anticipatory postural adjustment (APA) along anteroposterior (AP) mediolateral (ML) directions during gait initiation (GI) in children aged 3–10 years. included 72 healthy years 14 young adults. The child population was divided into four groups by age: 3–4, 5–6, 7–8, 9–10 GI task using dominant limb. peak center feet pressure (COP) shifts APAs (APApeak), time COP (APAonset), vectors horizontal plane were calculated evaluate specificity spatial, temporal, control, respectively. A difference found for APApeak. APApeak axis, but not significantly higher 7–8 age group than other groups. Although APAonset specificity, a significant between adult (5–6 years, years) observed vector. In conclusion, developmental process varied with age. Furthermore, be specific.
